the coop before her fresh coat of white trim and our first small brown backyard egg!
I am surprised at how satisfying finding that first egg was for me. And right in the resting box where it belongs to boot.
It's as if that one time when I was alone in the backyard and had to chase a couple of the gals (while cursing the chicken gods under my breath) in the neighbors yard (the one with a dog) while Calvin sat crying zippered in on the trampoline was totally worth it.
I think I deserve this one-egg omelet all to myself for my hard work.
That is, if I can bring myself to actually crack it open.
Isn't it pretty?
I'm such a proud mother.
Now I'm off to find a cute egg collecting basket.

you are like, a real legit farmer.
i would have a hard time cracking that egg, too! your chicken coop is adorable as i'm sure your new egg basket will be... and after all, isn't that what it's all about?
Kelly! I love it! So cute! I can't wait to see it! :-)
Yay! The best.
