The Last Hurrah

As a last wintery embrace, we headed to Mendon's Pond Park over the weekend.
The trails were slick with shinny icy snow.
The kind that really crunches beneath your feet.

We arrived armed with plenty of seed stuffed in our pockets.

The wildlife were a lively bunch and we fed birds out of our hands and got close enough to nearly touch a handful of deer.

Lena complained a lot.
About halfway through the outing she found
a walking stick and then she was all set.

Simon refused to put his hands in his pockets or to wear a pair of
gloves. Every time we picked him up to warm them he yelled
"Ow!, Ow!, Ow!"
(because that's how he rolls nowadays)

funny enough, here's a shot with his hands in his pockets.
The little stink:

But popsicle hands and all, it was soo nice to get outside and fill our cabin fever-filled lungs with bright fresh air.

The end.

of winter.
hopefully.
