What Friday Means and Feeling Humble

Friday means the weekend is here,

which means family, lots of time with family.

Weekdays aren't so bad, the children and I get stuff done and stay plenty busy playing, cleaning, baking, reading, walking, and dancing, but the weekend, that's when the good stuff happens.

The weekends means we all get to be together for 2 solid days straight. Which is what it's all about, am I right or am I right? We can stay home and lounge or work in the yard, running back and forth to Home Depot for the gazillionth time making sure this old house is runnin' well. All the while our children are at our feet running, or in our arms, laughing, talking, and learning, and sometimes even crying (there's definitely always some crying). "I'll take it!," I say, tears and all.
These past couple of days I have felt a strong desirous will to soak in our time together. To make each moment count and kiss my children's faces off. They don't really like that, so maybe I'll do it while they sleep. This feeling rushes over me from time to time. I'm not sure what brought it on this time, but it might have something to do with Feature Films for Families(thanks juje).

This desirous feeling usually brings an accompanied dose of humility. I am humbled when I stop to appreciate the countless blessings the Lord has provided us with. I think the Lord has the remarkable ability to sweetly put me in my place when I have been complaining for days on end about nothing in particular. I tend to do that. Loving and serving my family with all of me is something I never want to fall short on.

Simply put: eternal perspective works wonders on my day to day.

But more especially on my weekends with the 3 of them.

Hi, my name is Vanessa Ferguson and I played soccer at SVU when Jeff played. My maiden name is Dix. He might remember me , but I fell upon your blog through Karla Henderson's blog. It's funny how in some way all SVU people are still connected:) I came by your blog and I loved it cause your mommy humor is much like mine. I have a almost 3 year old and a 1 year old and all the stuff you write about it all the stuff I write about. Anywho, I hope this doesn't sound too creepy , but I just think that you are so super funny and it is always nice to see how other LDS moms are coming along in this life journey. Thanks for letting me pop in once in a while :)

Whoever that was that wrote the above blog, thank you. :-) Kelly, this is one of my favorite blogs of yours. THIS is what it's about. THIS is what makes a momma proud. THIS is what I've always hoped each of my children would achieve in life, if nothing else. You've got the idea kiddo. :-) I love you.
Love, mom
