Out With the New and in With the Old

I scored some awesome vintage mid-century furniture this weekend from Jeff's Grandmother and her husband, Frank. These pictures are from the pieces in their prime. The connected table and chairs are now in my possession, along with a couple of brass lamps, the walnut inlay end tables in the picture...and THE coolest retro red leather chair I have ever laid eyes on (not shown here, but don't worry, I will shower you with pictures of her later.) Is it weird to have feelings for a chair?

I can't believe he held on to them for all these years, but boy howdy am I glad he did! I walked down his basement steps and was in pure vintage bliss. I love furniture from this era, but I love it even more when I know the story and people behind it. Frank tells me his furniture has been all over the place.

They dug through their belongings and found these old pictures for me to see. The home and all of its glorious decor were featured in a magazine, once Frank and his first wife completed the build of their home in Evansville, Indiana. I have a feeling Jeff and the children and I will produce lots of stories for this furniture once (if ever) it finds a home after ours.

So, out with the new and in with the old!

Now, you are cordially invited to come and sit in my living room on the furniture that tells a story.

Yes! we are lucky! btw Kelly told me who Frank was. Sorry for the mistake! That name didn't sound familiar to me. Cool house though!
You are luckier than I as they live close to you.
I have never reupholstered anything in my life. You wouldn't want my help! :-) But if I lived closer, I'd be willing to try! I have midterms this week. yuck.
