Where the People Are Happy They Say...

If you grew up in the west and your mother was fond of very cheery music that taught children values of the utmost importance, then perhaps at one point in your childhood you shimmied along to some Brite Music. I know I did.

My mom very recently bought the entire set for my sister and my kiddies. Awes. I think I was more excited to rip those babies open and pop them into the CD player than Lena is before she receives a handful of nana. My mom informed me she stayed up till the wee hours of the night the day they arrived on her doorstep. Pure unadulterated nostalgia folks. That's what it was. Lyrics came crawling forward from every part of my brain with each song change.

I LOVED this music as a kid. My mom always made things fun for us with music. I can remember many fond memories that involved being silly or doing chores to music. We always made up dances as kids (what young girl doesn't?) and I hope to pass the same enthusiasm on to my kids. Lena and I are dancing fools. So we have been digging in deep into our Brite Music. They haven't changed a thing. Nothing. Some of the songs definitely sound outdated with spooky children voices singing them, but I never seemed to notice as a kid. Lena even likes them the spookier the better. If you don't know much about it, you should probably do your kids a favor and find out. Consider this my official endorsement.

Don't mind the mess behind her (those clothes have your future baby boy's name all over them, sisty) but here is a funny snip it of Leen learning how to enter the "Land of Obey".

she's in in my book.

I grew up in the West, but I guess my Mom doesn't like cheery music. Either that or she didn't care to teach me any important values through song. I feel that I've missed out... I may have to steal these from you some day, but I guess it can wait until Ethan is old enough to really appreciate them. I can tell that Lena was lovin' it!

Shannon? You don't remember? Wow...now I know who was paying attention! :-) This vid of Leensters warms my heart...she reminds me of you Kelly, doing these same actions at around her age...:-) I'm so glad this has such an impact on you...it does me too! Still today! To know you are passing it on to your kids warms my heart.

Oh, Shannon, this song was part of my presenter's kit...it was just a snippit....that's probably why you don't remember it much. We didn't have the full Standin' Tall series...but your kids do! :-)

I can't stand her...she makes me laugh all the time. Leeners should be in show business or monkey business or all of the above. She is most definitely a trick AND a treat! Thanks for the music, Gramma Tina!!!

(I couldn't figure out my login (duh!), so just in case you were interested who this is from...it's Babajuje.)
