Simon's Blessing

We haven't packed up the aero beds just yet. My mom and Robb drove in last Friday afternoon to be here for Simon's blessing, which took place on Sunday. At both Simon and Lena's blessing, right as Jeff is beginning the words of the blessing, and as he is saying their full name, the significance of the whole thing catches me off guard and I fight back the tears. The sweet memory comes to mind of my own dad giving us father's blessings at the beginning of each school year. Those blessings were so special to me. I am grateful for Jeff and can't wait for the days of the many father's blessings to come. Although one of my favorite parts of a baby blessing, I must say, is at the end when the father lifts the baby up Lion-King-style for everyone to see. It always cracks me up.

Congratulations on the blessing. It is such a special moment. Lukas was 18 months when he was blessed and even though just like you I had to fight back the tears I couldn't help but chuckle when he too was lifted Lion King style except when he was turned around he looked around and waved and said Hi to the congregation. Once again...CONGRATS on your special moment.
