The email I received this afternoon went a little something like this:
"Consistent with our unwavering commitment to child safety"...blah blah blah, etc. etc...."Consumer Product Safety Commission, we are providing free of charge a kit to cover the umbrella stroller's hinge mechanism which can pose a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller. The affected models include Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno XLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller"...and so on and so forth.
Sincerely,
Maclaren USA Inc.
That's me, second to last, Twin Techno.
Awesome.
Well, I, per their suggestion, went ahead and lifted up my big ol' stroller from the trunk of my car, retrieved the 21 digit number on the bottom (which I was way too annoyed about), plugged it in online, and made my request for some hinge mechanism covers.
So, my kids are all set on the whole not losing any daggone finger tips thing.
Bloody bullet dodged.
whew.

girl i have a maclaren infant seat
and i nearly cut my own finger
off TWICE. i have made phone
calls because that "mechanism"
is so shady. ps.. where did you
get those little brown sandals?
whole fingers are much better than 3/4 fingers.
Sime's is wearing Salt Water Sandals. i love them. he and she will be wearing them each year until they just don't make their sizes any longer.
best. sandals. ever.
i came here to comment on that stupendous panda umbrella but i have to agree with the salt water recommendation. they're so great because they're unisex! so yeah, you're paying a little more for a shoe, but it's going to last FOREVER and it doesn't matter if you have a boy or a girl next- they can wear them. pearl has the ones your babe is wearing. ok, comment over.
oh and CONGRATULATIONS on baby!!! i don't hate babies in the slightest, i'm just horribly behind on blogs. my goggle reader has like 5,231 posts to be read. but really, so exciting!
