The Visit From Heaven

A few weeks ago, my mom decided to hit the highway to Rochester. It's a good thing she did. My children are still alive because of her visit. But, in all seriousness, I was elated to have her here, to say the least. Motherhood is quite possibly the greatest adventure I will ever embark on. My children truly bring such an overwhelming joy to my life, but some weeks, such as the week prior to my mom's visit, that joy can be masked by sleepless nights bouncing a heavy 9 month old and/or a smart but sassy 2 year old combined with 20 million pee pants accidents.
She helped me achieve the impossible: getting stuff done! We had a blast. We took the kids to the museum, went on outings, ordered takeout on several nights, baked and decorated cookies, cleaned, organized, and even slept (well, I did anyway!) It was a gift only she could give, and it was well received. Even Jeff got a little time to himself. Coincidence he got a new X BOX game the day before her arrival?, probably, but it was good timing.

From what once was down right madness, my dearest mother left our home a painted bedroom, smells of pine sol and pledge, an organized basement, a painted bathroom, many emptied out laundry bins of seemingly never ending laundry, a happy wife, a happy husband, two happy kids, and a good night's sleep later...

thankyou. thankyou. thankyou.

p.s. i love you. thankyou.

p.p.s we are ready for you to come back now

My dear sweet daughter,
It is a mother's pleasure to be with her kids and grandkids. I probably had more fun than you did! You and your children are precious to me and words cannot say how much I love you. You are a wonderful mommy. Always remember that you have unconditional love for your kids...even when they poop or pee in their pants. :-)There are more important things than a clean house. You have your priorities straight. I love you!
