Like-A-Bike But Not

For her birthday this year, Jeff and I got Lena a wooden balance/walking bike. I originally got the idea from Corinne when she posted a while back that they got one for their son. She had nothing but great things to say about them, except for the hefty price tag. I did some research, and turns out, most people have nothing but great things to say about them as well. We looked around and found one for much less than the very high priced brand that is "LIKEaBIKE" called "Skuut". She is nothing short of wooden balance bike sweetness. (Target also started making one for only 50 bucks, but I searched high and low and couldn't find it anywhere, more power to you if you can track one down.)

Skuut is a small wooden toddler (about 2 yrs old and up) size "bike" with inflatable tire wheels
and no pedals. The idea is that your child uses his or her feet Flinstone style to make the bike walk, then eventually they will get the courage to coast around lifting their feet off the ground, balancing all by their own selfs, as Lena would say. What a great idea you say? I said the very same thing. So far, we have had lots of fun with Leen's little Skuut. I had to install the main bar upside down because Lena is still a tad bit on the short side for it. So it is our hope she will be able to go from this bike straight to a real bike sans training wheels, because we all know those are for sissies anyway, right? If you don't want your child to be a training -wheeling sissy, you will go buy one now. No, but all things being serious, they are really great, so go get one.

Awesome! I hope she loves it. Carter learned to ride without training wheels in a matter of weeks with his "wood bike" (that's what he calls it). I hope Tay will love it too- she is small too so it might be a while!

Awesome, we still have gift money leftover from Lukas' birthday and I've been spending countless hours searching for just the right thing. I'll def. look into it more. THANKS

Are you calling my kid a sissy??? That might be a good idea for Stone. I know he's almost 5 but he won't even go over bumps with his training wheels!! Okay maybe he is a sissy.
